Birdhouse UFO Finished!

Birdhouse Wall Hanging

It feels great to have another UFO completed! The birdhouse was begun in 1995 (you can read about it here and here), and I lost interest.

I set a goal in 2017 to do something with this project, and I lost interest.

In 2020, I actually worked on it (I shared here). Life happened. My sewing machine needed a new part, and the part sat off the coast in a cargo ship for months (Thank you, Covid).

My sewing machine is repaired, and I chose this month to push through! I am done with it cluttering up my mind and taking space in the sewing studio!

Funny thing…

Birdhouse Wall Hanging

I lost interest because I didn’t like it. Once I came up with a plan…well…

I like it!

It needs a name.

Hubby suggested ‘Spring Song’.

Do you have a suggestion?

  1. What a cute little finish. I love the flowers and the little bird – maybe “Flower Melody” – I don’t know – names are hard!

  2. Hi Laura! What a cute finish! The sunflowers are fun and I can almost hear the birdie chirping! Not to mention the bee buzzing about. Great job even if it had to spend time as a UFO. Its time has come and it is the perfect time to enjoy it. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. Hey Laura! Isn’t it funny how things can go full circle (given enough time!) – like/don’t like/like? I say go with hubby’s suggestion. 1 – the guys rarely get into the fun of our quilt passion, he got into the fun by dubbing it “Spring Song” and 2- the flowers may not be ‘spring flowers’ but this project was ‘born’ in Springtime & birdie is happy for you!
I notice you do the corner pocket thing for hanging smaller wall hangings, too. I do like it when those work – so much easier IMHO.
    Have a great weekend.

    • Ha, ha! I decided that reality has nothing to do with creativity. Artistic license and all that! My ladybug button is out of scale, too, but, darn it, I wanted to use it! 🙂

  6. Ah! So glad that you pushed through to a finish. It is a lovely wall hanging. I hope you can enjoy it now. The background ‘ripple’ fmq design is one of my favourites.
