December OMG 2018 Goal Update

It is time to be accountable and declare what I accomplished with my December OMG (One Monthly Goal).

Because of Christmas and the e-commerce explosion (I work at a post office), I kept my goal light…I really did not expect to accomplish much.  I thought I just might have time to machine quilt half of The Case of the Secret Garden (a Linda Franz/Inklingo mystery from 2013).

But I put my nose to the grindstone, and quilted at every opportunity that I could, and I am so happy to report a finish!

If you click on the link above, you can find links to the beginning of this project, and each clue that I worked on it, as well as find where it originated on Linda Franz’ website, Inklingo.

Some of the pictures aren’t that great (it is hard to take good pics indoors in the midst of winter), but they show that I finished this baby!

By clicking on a photo, you can see it enlarged.  This quilt was machine quilted on a domestic sewing machine.

December OMG 2018 Goal

Funny how what goes around comes around.

For my December OMG, I decided to focus on a UFO called The Case of the Secret Garden.

The Case of the Secret Garden

I dug through the blog to see when I last worked on this project.  It appears it was also my goal for December OMG 2017.  Hmmmmmm.

The Case of the Secret Garden

If you click on the links above, you can find links to the beginning of this project, and each clue that I worked on it, as well as find where it originated on Linda Franz’ website, Inklingo.  Linda began this enjoyable mystery in the year 2013.

So, why did I wad this project up in a corner?

Partly because I went through a tough time (why do I throw my creativity aside when I need it the most…another mystery), and partly because I changed my mind about my fabric choices.

I like the fabric choices.  I don’t like the fabric choices.  I like the fabric choices.  I can’t stand the fabric choices.

Oh brother!

But then, my Mom and a couple of sisters visited for Thanksgiving.  One of my sisters said, “I really like this!”

The Case of the Secret Garden

Nothing like a little positive motivation!

So this top is pin basted, and I am in the process of machine quilting it.

The Case of the Secret Garden

I hope to complete the quilting, of course, but realistically, because it is December, and the busiest time of the year, my goal is to complete half of the machine quilting.

December OMG 2017 Goal Update and Ringo Lake Mystery

My OMG/UFO goal for December was the number 10 (drawn by Patchwork Times).

The Case of the Secret Garden

I wanted to get the borders sewn on The Case of the Secret Garden.  I would have liked to have gotten this flimsy basted, too, but the day job was very busy.

And I was distracted by holiday fun.

I was also distracted by Bonnie Hunter’s On Ringo Lake mystery.

Clues 3 & 4 in progress:

December OMG 2017 Goal

The last Patchwork Times unfinished project of the year is number 10.  Judy actually announced number 6, but number 6 was the number for October, so I am going with the only number left for the year…number 10.

My number 10 is a mystery project from 2013.  It is called the Case of the Secret Garden by Linda Franz, the creator of Inklingo.

I found my project wadded up in a basket.  Although the mystery was fun, and the pattern is a good one, I did not like my fabric choices, and therefore, was not motivated to complete the quilt.

The Case of the Secret Garden

Since December is such a busy month, I am keeping my goal for this quilt small. I want to add simple borders (they’ll have to be simple…there isn’t much left of the fabrics used in this project).

Brownie points for me, if I get the top pin-basted into a quilt sandwich, but it isn’t likely.

I’ll be baking cookies for Christmas!

The Case of the Secret Garden – Part 4

Clue #4 of The Case of the Secret Garden Inklingo Mystery had detectives printing, cutting and sewing spokes of the New York Wheel.

For Clue #5, detectives are still printing and cutting.  We are also still sewing our wheels.

The Case of the Secret Garden Inklingo Mystery Quilt – Part 3

Clue #4 from The Case of the Secret Garden (COSTG) has us detectives printing, cutting and sewing.

I don’t have the printing and cutting done yet.

But I did have fun sewing spokes together.  I sure like having the lines printed on the fabric!  It is nice to have the matching cross hairs when I need them!
