How I Spent My Saturday Afternoon

I had a very pleasant Saturday afternoon off from the day job, so I spent the time doing some prep work for sewing.

Bonnie Hunter had a leader/ender bow tie challenge back in 2011.  I decided to make this quilt back in 2018 (you can see that post here, and you will find a link to BH).  No hurry.  Nope.  None at all.

I’ve been out of cut squares to make more bow tie blocks, so I cut a few more.  I don’t have a picture of those, but I do have a picture of the finished blocks.

There are more than 578 little bow ties in this basket!

Remember the Lets Sew Quilt Along

I have finally pin basted it!

While I had the pins and table set up, I pin basted Floral Reflections, too.

The inspector got involved…she had to check out the safety aspect!

I will be working on ESS (Every Stinking Seam…Cindy Needham’s version of SITD…Stitch in the Ditch).  This will take a while!

Stay safe.  Stay healthy.  Quilt on!

I am happy to say that I have all 13 blocks from the Lets Sew Quilt Along sewn together!

Before the deadline of September 23rd!

My version is 65″ x 67″…a pretty good size…not so much a wall hanging.  I’ve taken an indoor photo so you can get an idea of how big it is.

I made a big cutting error when I cut more of the black and white tiles. I cut them bigger than the size that I had planned for.

I was in a hurry.  I am absolutely sure that had nothing to do with the error!

I imagined Tim Gunn looking over my shoulder.

Keep calm and carry on.

Make it work.

I think I might need lime around the outside.  I may be making one more border.  But that is not happening anytime soon.

I have a week off from work, and I am so looking forward to taking a trip!

Block 13 of Segment 3 of the Lets Sew Quilt Along QAL is called Who’s Got the Thimble? and is designed by April Adams of Janda Bend Quilts.

Lets Sew Quilt Along

This was a fun and easy block to make!  The shelves of colorful thimbles are a great addition to this quilt along!

And I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the resident feline made off with the missing thimble!

To wrap up Segment 3, participants are asked to show a photo of our four blocks together.

Disappearing Nine Patch Completed

I have completed my version of the Disappearing Nine Patch from  Julie Cefalu’s Disappearing Nine Patch Quilt Along.

I decided to quilt an edge to edge called Mountain Laurel.  I am not a frame quilter, but I am so happy because I had no tension issues whatsoever!

I am also happy to have another finish!

This was a fun quilt along and it is an easy quilt to make!  Great for gift giving, or if you are looking for something to cozy up with this winter!

Lets Sew Quilt Along

Block 12 of Segment 3 of the Sew Let’s Quilt Along QAL is called Rotary Cutter and is designed by Sandy Maxfield of Sandy Star Designs.

I love this block!

Quick, easy and fun to make!

Lets Sew Quilt Along

The rotary cutter must be one of the all time best inventions ever!

I no longer have a floating boo-boo on my last block.  It isn’t technically correct; the leaning bolt ought to have background on the bottom, but just imagine that the fabric has slid down the bolt, so you don’t notice.  Ha, ha!  I am done fiddling with it!
