Some of you know that the day job has been particularly demanding this month…I have had no days off since I had one on December 3rd.
Therefore, I am not focused on Christmas.
What little energy that I have had after work, has been spent machine quilting Floral Reflections. I am determined to finish this quilt by the end of the year!
I was stumped as to how to quilt the border when I came upon this stencil design in my Electric Quilt 8 program. I think it is a design that I imported to EQ some time ago.
It worked out great!
The quilting is finished. I am on to the binding.
I just might make my self imposed deadline!

In 2017, I decided to make this UFO a goal…I was going to finish it!
Here is what I said:
One Monthly Goal – 2017
Ahem. It is a bird house. Started and abandoned quickly. One of those “quilt guild inspired because everyone is making one” projects. My excitement didn’t last long. This oldie needs to be done!
Well. We can all see how far I got with that goal. Still uninspired.
This little project has been hanging around since 1995. I found the quilt guild newsletter with the birdhouse pattern in it. Just the birdhouse and a little birdie pattern that I dislike; nothing else.
So I have made a simple mockup with my Electric Quilt program.
I have come up with this plan:
I think I like it enough to carry on!
Back in March, Judy, the Virtual Quilter, posted Virtual Quilt Challenge #5.
We were to select a block from the EQ Library and play with it. We are learning to create applique designs!
Judy gave more examples here and here.
I wish I had more time, because this is a really fun challenge! As I play, more ideas keep coming, but this will have to do for now.
I chose to work with the block that is in the upper left square.
I am saving this file so that I can come back and play!

Judy, of Virtual Quilter, posted her 3rd challenge in learning to use Electric Quilt.
We were to choose a kaleidoscope block, one made from many sections, and choose a fabric collection to play with. I chose the Faceted Star block and Modern Marks fabric by Christa Watson.
This was a great exercise! By playing with value/contrast, the block could be made to look so different without ever adding another block or more fabric.
With more play time, I could have come up with more variations, but here is what I have done with this challenge:
And just to see two of the many possibilites:
This was fun!
I am late to the party, but better late than never.
I participated in the Virtual Quilts first challenge to use Electric Quilt 8 to play with a block. The result of that challenge is here.
Challenge #2 was to select one of my virtual designs and add Christmas colors.
I chose the Alpine Cross from this blog post to play with.

Thanks for the fun, Judy!
