I am making Pat Sloan’s Hello Luv pattern as a table topper for my dining table. I have the blocks sewn together and I am deciding whether or not I’d like to add a border.
I had lots of bonus HST’s and I pieced them into pinwheel blocks.
Since I have two accent tables in the living room, I decided to make placemats for them.
I used a washable marker to mark a simple grid for quilting the placemats.
I used a light pink thread; it blends in well.
I’m happy with how these turned out!
Quilt On!
What a great way to use those left over HSTs!

Hi Laura! Oh, those little pinwheels turned out so cute. What a great use for them! Much better than sitting in a stack, waiting for inspiration. You can’t help but smile at them, I’ll bet! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Except that I have 20 more that I put into the parts department. Ha, ha! π

Iβm with you, using the bonus HSTβs right away is the only way to make sure they do get used! I love the placemats for the end tables. π

That is true, Kathy, but I still have 20 more and I did put them away into the parts department. I hope they get used someday! π

“I love it when a plan comes together.” Hannibal Smith, A-Team
This is a wonderful example of how a project can produce an ‘easy’ parallel project when the creator – you, Laura – is ‘on a roll’!
The best and quickest use of HST’s I’ve seen or heard of, ever.
And the best part? Each project looks fabulous – good job!

Yeah, the parallel project is finished before the actual project. Ha, ha! π

I love the place mats! They look great…and what a bonus that they were left over from another project! Good job! π

Thank you, Connie! I have wanted to make seasonal placemats and table toppers for some time. Little by little, I am getting there. π

Isn’t lovely to make items to be used and seen in your own home? I’m enjoying the cushions I made last year. Very satisfying.

I am not a big knick-knack collector, nor do I have storage for a lot of seasonal stuff, but I find that placemats, table toppers, cushions and wall hangings do a great job of switching things up. I hope to make more, but I do have a lot to catch up! π
