Floral Reflections Update

I have made more progress on the Quilt Nouveau Designs pattern, ‘Floral Reflections’, by Binky.

The yellow appliques are now stitched to the background fabric.

I have also squared up my blocks to 12 inches.  They are .5″ larger than the pattern called for.  Rather than squaring to 11.5″, I have decided to adjust the borders when I am ready to work with them.

The blocks are set with sashing and squares, so working on borders will be next!

  1. Hi Laura! Wow, this sure is a pretty quilt top. Using a variety of thread colors really makes each block shine, don’t you think? I hope you’ve been enjoying the process – you’re doing gorgeous work. ~smile~ Roseanne

  5. Such fresh Spring colours – a perfect project for this time of year 🙂 I’m taking a closer look at your machine applique after my venture into needle turned applique!

    • Allison, the applique is simply fused and then machine stitched with zig-zag and rayon thread. Of course, it could be done with a decorative stitch and other types of threads. It could also have the edges turned under (not in this project, but others I have done) and stitched down with a monofilament or fine weight thread using a blind stitch or zig-zag. There are so many ways to applique! 🙂
